Another cold day today, but I only did one yard. I didn’t feel like freezing, or pushing the mower, for that long today so I did the one that needed to be done for the grass to be put out for the garbage. Normally this would have been a Thursday job, but with the rain coming tomorrow, it needed to be done today.
I did pick up a new work coat and a knife today. I got a Carhartt J140 which is quilted flannel lined, so it is pretty warm. I will love this for the snow when it starts falling. The knife I got is a CRKT M16-10KS which is a nice little knife with a flipper button, so I can open it one handed when I need it.
Another long day, and it was also cold and cloudy, and windy. Overall, it was like yesterday, and now it should go down below 32 tonight, which means frost. Frost means I start later, and I have a good bit to do tomorrow, so we shall see just how much gets done.
The 5 yards I did today were all done with the Craftsman, though the first was trim only as I used the zero turn. I don’t know when the dealer will call and say that the new throttle plate is in, but I am hoping it is soon, though I may just winterize the Honda now and finish off the year with the Craftsman.
Another busy day today, and it looks like tomorrow will be too. I did 4 yards, a leaf cleanup, and put in some window panels today. So far, I have 4 yards and some cleanup work planned for tomorrow, with more mowing Wednesday, and it looks like rain Thursday!
Rain means not much work will get done, obviously, so it pushes things back. With how the leaves are falling, things will go slow as they tend to take longer to cleanup than a standard mow. I am looking forward to the end of the year though.
I ended up doing a small leaf cleanup today but I will have a lot more to do tomorrow with at least 5 yards to try and get done. The first problem is due to the broken throttle plate on the Honda, I took off the high wheel back on the cheap Craftsman backup and put on the small wheel bagger back piece from a similar mower, so that I can bag the grass.
This mower is not self-propelled, and the one yard I am doing tomorrow is pretty much all hill. The other problem is that due to the leaves falling, things will take longer as I either need to clean them up first, or bag them with mower. Bagging with the mower means empting the bag more often, but it is sometimes better than cleaning up the beds with the vacuum first.
Ah, a rainy day as even though they said showers, it ended up raining all day. We could use the rain for sure, but it won’t help me much with the grass as it is pretty much done for the year. It makes leaves harder to cleanup though, which is always fun.
I have bene working on sorting some of the recipes on the TX, which are partially because of issues with Dropbox, and my sorting, making duplicates. I have just under 3000, plus any new ones, to go through though, then I sill start formatting them!
Ah, unlike yesterday, I was actually able to take today off and relax a bit! It rained, but not until later in the afternoon towards evening time, so I probably could have done a few jobs but no one called, so I figured I would take the time off, and try to fix my Honda.
Fix the Honda? Yes, the throttle plate is cracked, where the air filter bolts on for support, so it is making a lot of noise due to the vibration. I am not sure if I can fix it for now, but the part is on order at the dealer and should be in sometime in the next week or so.
I ended up having to work today. I only did two small yards though, but it wasn’t what I had wanted to do today. The problem was we didn’t get much rain at all, so everything was actually dry by around 2. Now, tomorrow, I have nothing planned, and it is supposed to rain in the afternoon.
I may end up being called tomorrow for all I know, but that is something I will deal with tomorrow. I did work on typing up some recipes today as well as doing some more sorting, so I was able to get something done at least!
