Well, this is the second time I have to start writing this entry. I want to have a longer entry for a change so I took one of the new PDAs I got from Phil with me. Thank you Phil! I was typing this up and the Treo 650 restarted on me! I will consider it a glitch and nothing more. I can’t really blame the Treo for this little problem.
The Treo 650 is a lot nicer to use as a PDA because the screen is a lot better and the keyboard is fair more usable for me. I can’t stand the keyboard on the Treo 600. The screen is also higher resolution and a TFT display so it looks a LOT nicer and I can also run more software that requires the higher resolution screen.
Not to mention that since it has Bluetooth, I can use my keyboards with it. There is also the removable battery that really helps. I like that since the other one that he sent has a broken screen, I have a second battery. I may try and get a new screen for it later on down the road if I can find one for really cheap, but I have no intent on finding one right now. It is bad enough that I want to order some screen protectors which will take away money from my computer fund. Lucky for me the two I need is only going to cost me 20 dollars which I will have made back tomorrow morning. I may wait to buy them though.
Now, the other PDA that I got from Phil in the working category is a Handspring Visor Pro. This is a huge upgrade for me from my Visor Deluxe. It is twice as fast and had twice the memory. That means that is has a 33MHZ processor and 16MB of memory. The operating system is also a newer version. The Visor Deluxe has Palm OS 3.1H while the new Visor Pro has 3.5H making it more useful to me now.
Those are the two working PDAs that I got. Phil was also nice enough to give me some little extra pieces as well. This includes the 8MB flash module I have been needing for the Visor Deluxe as well as the EyeModule2 camera. He also gave me some cases. One is the flip cover for my M500, as well as a case for it. Ironically this is the same case that I use for my M500 now. Also included is a Speck rubber case for the Treo 650.
Now, I talked about the other Treo 650 with the broken screen but I have failed to mention the other 2 nonworking units. However, one of them is now a fully functional unit. The two broken units he sent are an M500 and an M505. The M500 is now working though. I swapped the motherboard with the one that I got from Alex when I got the Pilot Pro. Phil told me the digitizer was bad on his, but if you are reading this Phil, it seems to have been the motherboard actually.
The other broken handheld, the M505, is however far more broken. He had accidentally used the wrong charger. If you leave the battery in, the charge LED will stay on and the unit will not do anything at all. Taking the battery out though is a different story. The screen has colored lines on it so I assume that at the very least the screen is fried.
One if the other things, the memory module had a slight issue too. It would crash the Visor Pro when you put it in. What I did to fix that was rather simple really. I put it into my Visor Deluxe and it didn’t reset so I used the file mover program and deleted everything from it as well as formatting the module. Now it works just fine! You have to love the simple easy fixes.
I decided to pick up 2 boxes of Federal 22lr that is on sale at Gander Mountain for 15 bucks a box. Now I am down to 90 dollars but I did some grass today and will probably get paid for that job next week. Supper today was Chinese buffet and weather tomorrow will be 69 and sunny.
