Well something happened today. I decided that since Ubuntu was running well on the G500s I would install it on the X140e. So far it is running well too, but the WiFi seems a little slow. I need to see about updating that driver as there is a newer one on the Broadcom website.
I am also going to be writing an article for the Classical Computing blog soon as well, which will have some more details on what I am doing. I will be keeping the Surface Pro on Windows, but the desktop may be made into a dual boot system later on.

Well today was a good day. I have ended up installing Linux on the G500s as it hasn’t been running all that well with Windows on it. Right now, I am using Ubuntu Mate, since it is the old school Gnome desktop I know and love. I hate the new Gnome 3 desktop.
I had tried Zorin but even with it set to look like Gnome 2, it didn’t let me configure anything like I normally use. I don’t like when it doesn’t let me remove the bottom panel, or add anything to the top or bottom ones so it was GONE fast.

Today was a rainy day so I didn’t get any work done but I did get the new paddles for the MTD 4.5/21 snow blower I was given back in April. I will get them on tomorrow as well as hopefully getting the other snow stuff ready as well.
I have to admit sometimes I am tempted by the little tiny single stage blowers for light snow, but they are far more expensive than they are worth for me. I would love to get an electric one at times but the cord would get annoying very fast!

Today ended up being quite a good day indeed. I finished all of my work for the year, so unless someone calls for a last minute leaf cleanup, I am DONE until the snow comes! I have the Honda, the Craftsman yard vacuum, the two Stihl trimmers, and the Stihl hedge trimmer drained of gas and ran dry.
I will do the snow blowers this weekend sometime as well. I need to get paddles for the MTD single stage, change oil in the Troy Bilt, as well as the generator too. I even changed the oil in the Honda. I should also do the air filter and sharpen the blades as well probably.

Short one today, so Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Try not to get trampled over a junky TV!

Today was warmer so I took out the MTD snow blower I was given in the spring of this year and took off the old paddles. I need to get a new set for it, so I will probably try and get to the dealer on Saturday perhaps and get a new set for it before any snow comes.
I also did a good bit of writing last night as well, and I plan to do some more tonight as well. I even typed up some more recipes as well as playing some Fallout so I guess you could say I had a busy day today. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving of course, so I am not sure what kind of entry there will be.

So, I have been doing some more writing lately, since I am sort of taking a break from Fallout. I personally like to start off with a first draft, and then do a rewrite of it all. I am treating the first draft as more of an outline in this case really. I need to laugh in a way though since I started writing as an excuse to play with all of the old electronics I have been collecting.
Even last night I was using the NEC MobilePro 780 to do some writing. The one night I had used the PowerBook G4, and another time I had used the Sig3. Right now I am doing this blog entry on the Symbol MC3504 which I have also used for writing as well. I haven’t been using the Pre as much lately but in the past I have done a lot of writing on that. The funny thing is that I don’t usually use my more modern stuff for writing. I tend to ignore using stuff like the Surface Pro or the ThinkPad X140e for writing since I usually give them a lot of use for general computer stuff all day. I like to use my less used stuff for writing.
I was planning to work today as I have a few last cuts to do, but it is rather cold and I don’t quite feel like freezing. Not to mention that mowing with a frost on the ground is a bad idea as it will freeze under the deck. It is also bad for the grass but since it is almost December, that is something that I am not worrying about that anymore this year. Soon the ground will be nice and white, providing it stays cold enough for snow since they say it is going to warm up a bit again. The issue that I have with weather is you never know what it is going to be like since it keeps changing all the time. One site is saying we are going to have a mild winter, with a lot of snow.
