October 31, 2016

Today wasn’t as long as a day as I had thought it would be, but I did still manage to get in 4 yards. I will be doing at least 2 more yards tomorrow, and it could be more if someone else decides to call. At this time of the year, planning ahead is never easy as the next cut could be the last for this season.

It was chilly today, and it will be a good bit warmer on Wednesday which is pretty crazy when you think about it. It was about 50 today and should be almost 70 Wednesday, so that is a good 20 degree difference. Of course, it will rain on Thursday.

Today was going good until the rain came. I managed to do a leaf cleanup and fertilizer job for one person, then 3 small yards, and start on another larger leaf cleanup. I will have to try and get some stuff done tomorrow, but it will be wet for sure, and that will make things harder.

I am not completely sure what I am doing get other than at least 3 yards so far. I have some people I wrote and haven’t wrote me back yet, so it could be more tomorrow, and it also depends on who else calls me as that can change quickly.

So yesterday I mentioned that I have all the duplicate recipes removed but don’t think I mentioned that it is a grand total of 6,341 recipes. I put them into a text file, and in Word it it is 3,298 pages and around 7MB of just text, so I need to start making smaller files.

The thing is I did leave the files on the Treo as well, so I cold technically add even more, but think the best thing to do now is start formatting these and add any new ones to the last file as they accumulate again, this way I can get something done while I am not typing them up.

Another day I wasn’t able to get anything done. Everything was soaked, and with little to no sun all day, it wasn’t worth trying. Tomorrow should be nicer, but it looks like RAIN again on Sunday so I am not sure what I will be doing yet. I have a lot to try and get done over the next 2 to 3 weeks though.

After these next few weeks are over I will be done for the year until it snows. I have almost all of the recipes on the TX sorted through, so once I finish the 300 on it, I will add those to the Treo and see how many total I have and deicide if I want to start formatting or add more new ones.

Another cold day today, but I only did one yard. I didn’t feel like freezing, or pushing the mower, for that long today so I did the one that needed to be done for the grass to be put out for the garbage. Normally this would have been a Thursday job, but with the rain coming tomorrow, it needed to be done today.

I did pick up a new work coat and a knife today. I got a Carhartt J140 which is quilted flannel lined, so it is pretty warm. I will love this for the snow when it starts falling. The knife I got is a CRKT M16-10KS which is a nice little knife with a flipper button, so I can open it one handed when I need it.

Another long day, and it was also cold and cloudy, and windy. Overall, it was like yesterday, and now it should go down below 32 tonight, which means frost. Frost means I start later, and I have a good bit to do tomorrow, so we shall see just how much gets done.

The 5 yards I did today were all done with the Craftsman, though the first was trim only as I used the zero turn. I don’t know when the dealer will call and say that the new throttle plate is in, but I am hoping it is soon, though I may just winterize the Honda now and finish off the year with the Craftsman.

Another busy day today, and it looks like tomorrow will be too. I did 4 yards, a leaf cleanup, and put in some window panels today. So far, I have 4 yards and some cleanup work planned for tomorrow, with more mowing Wednesday, and it looks like rain Thursday!

Rain means not much work will get done, obviously, so it pushes things back. With how the leaves are falling, things will go slow as they tend to take longer to cleanup than a standard mow. I am looking forward to the end of the year though.
