Well, I made a possible mistake. I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on the Toshiba. I also have a car trip today. I just got a basic install done, and got only the basic stuff I need from the software repositories. Mainly all I need is the restricted extras, and touch freeze. I also install X Chat, Thunderbird, and the desktop effects advanced settings.
I had a little issue with 9.04 but I have it sorted out for now. Compiz is not running correctly, when I try to enable desktop effects, meaning Avant will not work. That is one of my must have programs as well. I installed the Compiz Icon, and all I have to do is hit reload and it works. Its not a good fix, but it works for now.
So, since I installed Linux, what am I using for music today? Did I mention the car trip? We are going back to Lancaster again. That was some damn good pizza and we are going back, and my moms cousin is coming too. So, music wise, I am using the iPod and Shure headphones. I do not have anything on my laptop yet, and I have to get all my music back on from iPod. I am using the iPod as well since I am running on battery so dad can play with the GPS.
I am also using battery so I can get an idea of how long it will last for me today. I have the extended battery in now, and also have the standard in my bag. I am running with the brightness really low, but I have to have it up a little from lowest so I can see the stuff on the screen. The bad thing is today is very sunny. I prefer cloudy for a trip, since I can see my screen better.
Back to the music situation. I have to get my music off the iPod and onto the computer so I will not lose ratings. The good thing is that Rhythmbox, the program I use, can do it. It will show the ratings when it reads the iTunes database, so all I have to fo is copy them in groups. It won’t copy the ratings so I do 5 star then rate them as 5, then 4 then 3 then 2 and 1. its a pain, but at least I don’t lose my ratings that way. I lose the play count though.
So, I was thinking of keeping this a surprise until it came but I am getting a new laptop. Its a top of the line computer too. 100MHZ Pentium 1, 48MB of RAM, and a 810MB hard drive. Man this baby is sweet. It will be running Windows 95 and maybe Windows 3.11 if I can get it to load of the PCMCIA slot. If I can get my CF adapter to work I have a 1GB card I can use.
I am getting it in a trade for that old DOS PalmTop PC I have, the HP 95LX. I hope he enjoys it more then I did. It is in good condition and they sell for like 80 on eBay. I had no use for it, since I had no way to get files on or off. Oh well, Enjoy the 95LX Alex. I will enjoy the Fujitsu.
Supper today was Infinitos. Which is getting to be one of my favorites. Weather was warm today and kind of hot. Tomorrow will be 88 and isolated thunderstorms. Guess what I got! http://picasaweb.google.com/mikeypizano/Lovebirds#5328771294415753330!!!!!!!!!!! That is Kiwi and Tweetles.
